Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches 14 smart city projects in Pune today on 25th June (Saturday), marking the first anniversary of the launch of the mission.

PM launches the ‘Smart City Mission’ projects from Pune’s 5,000-capacity Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex. These cities have proposed a total investment of Rs 48,000 crore in area development and pan-city solutions.

The programme is being attended by M. Venkaiah Naidu. Maharashtra Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate “Make Your City Smart” contest aimed at involving citizens in designing roads, junctions, parks, etc.

People of the cities have to decide about the development of their urban spaces. These decisions can't be taken in Delhi. Spirit of participative governance is vital.Let's consider urbanization as an opportunity. Gone are the days when it was seen as a challenge or obstacle - PM
