President Kovind: There should be no provision for mercy petition for persons convicted under POCSO Act

Ram Nath Kovind has said that there should be no provision for mercy petition
for the persons convicted under the POCSO Act. He said Parliament should
consider the issue.

Mr. Kovind
was addressing after the inaugurating the National Conference on Empowerment of
Women for Social Transformation at the Brahmakumari’s Headquarter at Mount Abu
in Rajasthan.

Ram Nath
Kovind said that women safety is a serious issue and a lot of work has been
done on it, but there is a need of lots of work still to be done.

He said that it is
the responsibility of every citizen to make their sons to understand their responsibility
 towards the honor of women. President
has said that the social transformation can be possible trough women
empowerment.
