The Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi announced on Wednesday that there had been a decline in the health of former president Pranab Mukherjee.

Pranab Mukherjee had been admitted to the Research and Referral Hospital on August 10 to undergo a procedure to remove a blood clot in the brain. He tested positive for COVID-19 that day.

Pranab Mukherjee was placed on ventilator support that same day after he underwent the surgical procedure.

“There has been a decline in the medical condition of Former President Pranab Mukherjee as he has developed features of lung infection. He continues to be on ventilatory support and is currently being managed by a team of specialists,” Army Research and Referral Hospital said

Pranab Mukherjee had been president from 2012 to 2017. A veteran Congressman, Pranab has held important portfolios such as finance, defence and external affairs.
