Displaced residents of Kalyan nagar protesting against the
administration for not getting houses after five years
Police
arrested around 15 women after threaten to commit suicide inside Sursagar lake
in Vadodara. They are displaced residents of Kalyan nagar, protesting against
the administration for not getting houses after five years.
In 2014 the
corporation demolished the Kalyan Nagar hutments behind Kamatibaug area of
Vadodara city. However the displaced are still not getting their houses after
five years of demolition. On Friday they threaten to commit suicide inside the
Sursagar in view of their demands.
In view of
that fire brigade and police are deployed near Sursagar as a precautionary
measure. Ambulance was also kept there as fire brigade done patrolling and
detained around 15 females came there for suicide.
The
construction work was given to M.V. Omni but the contractor left the work
midway and later it was given to Gayatri constructions. The company was given
nine months time to complete the project and the time will be completed in
March 2020. However the people show their ire as the work not moves forward.
