Police started intensive interrogation of the accused after cash seized during the time of Vadodara Municipal Corporation elections
In the past, incidents of money laundering were recorded with the police during elections. As the VMC elections are round the corner the police start intensive checking to keep a eye on such incidents.
In one such incident a youth was caught in a car by the Waghodia police with more than three lakh cash and a dagger on Waghodia Road in Vadodara city.
Panigate police conducting vehicle checking near Vaikunth society on Waghodia road on Friday. The team spotted a suspicious person in the car late at night and in the preliminary inquiry, the driver revealed his name as Ganubhai Kalubhai Bharwad a resident of Jalaramnagar at Waghodia road. During the search of the car the team found a dagger in the cover next to the driver’s seat, a revolver-like lighter, two mobile phones worth Rs 26,000 and currency notes of 500 and 100 worth Rs 3,09,500. The youth failed to give any satisfactory answer when asked about the currency.
Police arrested the accused and initiated proceedings after seized items including the car, currency, mobiles and registered an offense under GPA 135.
