Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday following a bilateral meting said that the two countries will work towards further strengthening their ties in the field of technology, business and trade.

Addressing the media following the fifth biennial India-Germany Inter-Government Consulations, PM Modi hailed the German chanchellor’s contribution in strengthening Berlin-New Delhi relations.

The PM added that the possibility of establishing new opportunities in their field of river cleaning and environmental conservations were also discussed.

Merkel, on the other hand, suggested a teacher exchange programme to further augment the 20,000 Indian nationalists studying in Germany. “20,000 Indian nationalists are studying in Germany. We would like to see even more. When it comes to vocational training, we want to have an exchange of teachers too” she said.

Merkel retreated her commitment to work closely on sustainable development and climate protection.
