The South Asian Games formerly known as South Asian Federation Games are a biennial multi-sport event held among the athletes from South Asia. The biggest multi-sporting event in the SAARC region, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Games on 5th February at Guwahati in a glittering ceremony and in the presence of a host of dignitaries from India and neighbouring countries.

For smooth conduct of the games an organizing committee has been set up under the Chairmanship Union sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal and IOA chairman N. Ramachandran.

SAARC nations namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be participating in the games.

SAARC nations comprise 21% of the world’s total population and around 9.12% of Global economy.
