Prime
Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met Mangal Kewat, the rickshaw puller who had
invited the PM to his daughter’s wedding, during his visit to Varanasi, his Lok
Sabha constituency.
Kewat, who
hails from Domri village in Uttar Pradesh, had requested Modi to attend his
daughter’s wedding on February 12. Domri village near the River Ganga was
adopted two years ago by the prime minister as his fourth adopted village.
After
meeting Kewat, Modi praised him for his contribution toward Swachh Bharat
Abhiyan. Kewat had said that he was inspired by the PM and the national
cleanliness campaign, and has taken the task to clean the banks of the Ganga in
his village.
In response
to the invitation, Modi had written a letter to Kewat, congratulating his
daughter and conveying his blessings to her. As per ANI, Kewat’s family was
excited after receiving the letter from the PM.
Kewat had
said that he did not expect to receive a response from the prime minister of
the countryand that he showed the letter to all the guests who had attended his
daughter’s wedding.
Kewat and
his wife had expressed their desire to meet Modi and convey the difficulties
their family was facing during his one-day visit to Varanasi.
