Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting yesterday to deliberate on the future of CBSE Class 12 Board Exams. The meeting was called by PM Modi after Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' invited 'detailed suggestions' from States on the issue of conducting exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, Prime Minister was briefed about the options left for the government to organise the exams. PM Modi was also briefed about the extensive consultations done with teachers and parents by the Ministers and officials. Prime Minister said that the government has to make a decision taking in mind the present safety and security of the children as well as their future prospects.

Centre had on Sunday convened a high level meeting to discuss CBSE Class 12 Board exams and other upcoming entrance tests. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has said that there is a broad consensus among states about conducting CBSE Class 12 board exams and an informed and collaborative decision will be taken by June 1. All states are expected to give their detailed suggestions on the issue by today.
