Actor Paul Ritter died on Sunday, April 4. He was 54. The British screen and stage actor has worked in popular shows Chernobyl, Friday Night Dinner and films Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Quantum of Solace.

Ritter’s agent confirmed the news and said that the actor died of a brain tumour at his home on Sunday, with his family by his side. The agent said, “It is with great sadness we can confirm that Paul Ritter passed away last night. He died peacefully at home with his wife Polly and sons Frank and Noah by his side. He was 54 and had been suffering from a brain tumour.”

Paul Ritter was best known for playing Martin Goodman on the British sitcom Friday Night Dinner. Paul made his acting debut with The Bill in 1992, which was a police procedural drama. He has also appeared in films like Quantum of Solace, Son of Rambow and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

He was recently praised for his acting in the mini-series Chernobyl where he played the role of Anatoly Dyatlov, the supervisor who was blamed for not following safety protocols, which led to the nuclear disaster.
