Bridging the Gap Between Industries and Academia

In an effort to bridge the ever-growing gap between the industry and academia and a way of enhancing the employability of the students, city based Parul University entered into an MoU with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Signed during the 2019 edition of Educon Higher Education conference, this MoU was exchanged between the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr M N Patel and Mr Raju Shah, Chairman of Gujarat State Council.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education, Government of Gujarat, Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary, Education Department, Government Of Gujarat, Kartikeya Sarabhai, Director, Centre for Environment Education, amongst others.

CII is a non-government, non-profit, industry led and industry managed organization, which works to create an environment conducive to the growth of industries in India through advisory and consultative process. With such a vital contribution towards the development of Industries in Gujarat and in India, an agreement with CII will go a long way in developing an industry-centric learning environment in Parul University. This will further enhance the quality of student placements in Parul University, providing a more efficient, industrially trained, human resource.

This MoU will create various avenues for collaboration for both parties which include programs for the development of students, faculty development programs and a guided restructuring of the curriculum, making it more industry inclusive. The students will also gain the endless opportunities of interning with some of the leading Industries in the country. The parties will go on to organize Industry oriented training programs, which will provide to the faculties a wider exposure to the industries.

In the various areas of research development, the Confederation of Indian Industries will go on to make use of Parul University’s research facilities for conducting various projects. Such initiatives have proven to be highly instrumental towards providing the best form of practical education, in today’s Higher Educational institutions.

The scope of placements in Parul University has been constantly widening, with the University’s strategic methods, of replacing traditional practices of waiting to bring the students into the world, with a new practise of bringing the world to the students. The University recently inaugurated the Armed Forces Wing, where various reputed members of the Armed Forces have been visiting the campus to enlighten the students about the value of National service. In the same way an MoU with CII will also serve the purpose of bringing more industries into the University.

“The gap between the industry and academia, needs to be constantly bridged, it is high time students spend more time in the real practical world than behind the pages of their textbooks. I believe this agreement with the Confederation of Indian Industries will bring lasting opportunities for the students and staff of Parul University” said the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr M N Patel.
