Parul university organised expert lecture on Judicial Perspective of Investigation and Evidence

Former High Court Justice guides law and science students on bringing together Law and Science for the betterment of the society

Furthering its interdisciplinary approach to education, as a way of providing practical solutions to some of the lacunas in today’s criminal justice system, city based Parul University, blended science and law to facilitate this enlightening legal platform. The University’s Faculty of Law acting in conjunction with its Applied Science Faculty, organised an expert lecture on the “Judicial Perspective of Investigation and Evidence”.

To shed enlightenment on this vital subject, the University invited former Justice Z.K Saiyed, one of Gujarat’s most notable legal luminaries, whose judicial insights have shaped the practical application of Law not only in Gujarat, but in India as a whole.

With his enriching expertise and practical experience as a former sitting judge of the High Court of Gujarat, Justice Saiyed guide the budding law and forensic science students on the judicial application of their education.

Justice Saiyed went on to share his insightful perspective on the forensic handwriting expertise as well as on the significance of post mortem and Inquest Pachanama, strangulation, amongst various subjects. Over 150 law and forensic science students attended the gathering, where they had the lifetime opportunity of learning and engaging with the esteemed Justice.

“ Being a student of law I believe just as it is important to learn theoretical aspects of the law, it is of much more significance to learn of the practical elements also. I am very grateful for the opportunity that Parul University has provided for all of us as students, to learn from such a distinguished personality”, said Vaishvik Patel, a law student under the University’s law faculty.

As a way of providing students with the most enriching learning experience, Parul University has been constantly engaging with various notable experts within the field of law, such as Justice Ravi Tripathi, Justice K.A. Puj and now Justice Z.K. Saiyed. The University has also been focusing on providing the students with the finest hands on training, during the course of their studies through various workshops, and visits to places having immense legal significance such as the High Court of Gujarat. On this occasion former Justice Saiyed, went on to share his expertise on various landmark judgments which have been delivered over time on this subject, along with other concepts pertaining to test and investigation of samples examined by forensic laboratories and cross examinations.

On this occasion a book authored by one of Parul University’s PhD law students, Mr Wolle Abegaz Yesuf was also inaugurated through the hands of the Justice Z.K Saiyed and the University’s Dean of Law, Dr Akil Saiyed. Having the title “Rule of Law and the Conscience Balance in Ethiopia”, the subject matter of this book was commended by the dignitaries of the occasion as having great significance in the legal system of the world. The budding law students of Parul University continue to make strides within Gujarat and India’s legal academic fraternity, by practically engaging and emerging victorious in various law based competitions, such as moot courts, parliamentary debates, public speaking contests amongst others.
