Delivering his views on importance of physiotherapy in national level physiotherapy conference at BITS.

"Physiotherapy is important for everyone specially in sports to heal in time for the injuries on field. The role of the physio is big inside the field and in coming days the profession will increase and we have more such people in every games," said Padma Shri Dhanraj Pillay while delivering his views in national level physiotherapy conference at BITS campus near Vadodara. The conference is attended by researchers from various states of the country.

The 13th Gujstate Conphycs on the theme of Passion and Knowledge to heal is organised at the BITS education campus from 18th October. The two day national level confrence will focus on the new research, techniques and research papers which will be presented by the researchers during the conference.

The two days conference will focus on the recent innovations, research and new techniques in physiotherapy like sports therapy, neurological therapy, cardiovascular therapy, pediatric and other diseases. Sports and scientific papers, models, papers and quiz will also be going to organise during the conference.

On the opening day recipient of India's highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and Padma Shri Dhanraj Pillay put focus on the importance of physiotherapy in the career of sportsmen and inspire the students to respect their profession.

He said the role of physiotherapist is very important for the sportsperson as it helps to heal the injuries in time. Giving his example about get injured during the match in Malaysia which almost finished his career in 2003. After get operated on his knee by Dr. Anand Joshi he get the physiotherapy treatment for one month and later represent the country in Athens Olympics in 2004.

He said the demand of physiotherapists will increase with the start of events like Khelo India and Khel Mahakumbh as every team needs more such specialists looking towards the injuries to players. He appeal all the students to do things with sincere approach, passion and respect parents and teachers to reach the goals in life.

Many dignitaries also graced the occasion at the start of two days conference at BITS.
