Over 62 thousand women died of cervical cancer in 2015-16

The government on Friday declared that over 62,000 woman lost their lives to cervical canser
between academic year 2015 and 2016. The estimated number of deaths due to cervical canser
accounts for 24 percent of all anatomical sites of cancer in women in india. This is the largest proportion
among all cancers in women in India, minister of health and family welfare informed the Lok Sabha on
Friday 12th March 16.
