A deep outrage is seen in the Marathi community over breaking the statue of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by anti-social elements in the Dandiabazar area of Vadodara city. The leaders and community members demand public apology from the responsible and reinstall the statue again.

Maharashtrian families living in Vadodara also celebrate Diwali by making a replica of the impregnable fort built by Shivaji Maharaj. The Maharashtrian tradition of building forts on Diwali is still kept alive by the people of the community living in the city. On Kharivav Road in Dandia Bazar area, a replica of Shivaji Maharaj was made by Bal Krishna Seva Trust and installed at the spot.

However around two days ago some antisocial elements broke the statue which brought outrage in the Maharashtrian community. A large number of Marathi community leaders had gathered at the spot on Wednesday to protest against the demolition of the statue by anti-social elements. The leaders and community members demand public apology from the responsible and reinstall the statue again. There were also hints that the agitation would intensify in the coming days
