Online inauguration of MSISEC of MSUB by Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda hosted a virtual inauguration program for the launch of its Maharaja Sayajirao Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship Centre (MSISEC) with Education Minister (Government of Gujarat}, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama as chief guest.

The release of a special issue of MSU News letter MSU Connect on New Education Policy was also done by him.

Vibhavriben Dave, Minister of state for education , Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary, Higher and Technical education, M. Nagarajan, Director Higher Education, Narayan Madhu, Joint Commissioner, Higher Education were also in presence as Vice Chancellor Prof. Parimal Vyas presented the vision and roadmap of the University for Innovation and Startup acceleration in the region and implementation of the New Education Policy.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Ranjan Aiyer, Director of Office of Career Advancement for students and Dr K. M. Chudasama, Registrar of MSU delivered the vote of thanks. Due to the current situation of covid-19, the inauguration event was conducted online.

MSISEC is going to be the biggest Innovation and Incubation Centre in the region, providing opportunities to the budding startups from varied fields. Through this program University supports the students right from the stage of creating proof of concepts, prototype, patents to mentorship and guidance. Building and campus of more than 25,000 sq. ft. have been allocated for the use of the innovators.

The campus includes incubation space, co-working space, Tinkering and computer lab, presentation space, mentor and investor meeting space which is being developed at estimated cost of 60 lakh.

Centre for Startup and Innovation and Centre for Incubation under the Office of Career Advancement for Students are carrying various activities for development of the innovation and startup ecosystem. Over 15 startups are successfully being mentored under MSISEC and more than 30 innovative projects are being supported.

The MSISEC aims at providing complete support to innovators and start-ups. Innovators will be provided with domain mentors and prototyping funds under SSIP scheme and University allocations to develop their innovative into real services or products, develop business plans and identify customers and markets.

The start-ups incubated will be provided basic seed funds from University and SSIP grants and facilitated to raise funds from investors. Mentorship and business guidance will also be made available to the start-ups.

MSISEC is aimed at providing complete support to start-ups to grow into enterprises. The centre can house 40 startups by providing basic office space, internet facility, meeting rooms and presentation rooms. A large co-working space that can house 100 innovators to provide environment of harmonious growth to start-ups and innovators.
