NSUI and ABVP supporters came to blows after they clashed on the matter of Ramajas college in Delhi. Both the groups engaged in heated verbal altercations and then exchanged blows before the security and police arrived and control the situation.
The ABVP supporters pelted stones in the Ramjas College premises in protest of the invitation to JNU student Umar Khalid for a cultural event. The AISA (All India Student Association) and other groups and protesting students said that withdrawing the invitation was capitulating to violence, and is an attack on “freedom of speech and expression.”
The ABVP students in Vadodara on Monday reached the Commerce main building to protest about the incident at the Ramjas college. “We are about 60 to 70 members reached the Commerce faculty to protest about the incident with placards. But the NSUI group stopped us and started verbal altercations and then physical fight with us. We are silently protesting and they start fight with us,” said Maulik Desai General Secretary ABVP Vadodara.
However the NSUI said that they came to the faculty and shouting slogans and when they tried to stop them they misbehaved with the girls. “The ABVP supporters arrived at the main building and when some of the girls trying to stop them they misbehaved with them. As the exams is going on so we tried to stop them but they start misbehaving and started fighting with us. The vigilance and police arrived at the spot to control the situation before it get out of hands,” said Zubair Khan NSUI President Vadodara.
