NPPA issued notice to 263 Pharmaceutical Companies

Notice given by The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) to 263 pharmaceutical firms which were found overcharging during 2015-2016, Parliament informed on 26th April.

NPPA has informed that during 2015-2016, demand notices were issued to 263 companies amounting to Rs 928.32 crore and recoveries effected are to the tune of Rs 12.68 crore, Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers told the LokSabha in a written replay.

“Whenever companies are found overcharging the consumer in respect to price of medicines, NPPA issues demand notices for recovery of overcharged amount along with interest thereon under various provisions of DPCO( Drug Price Control Order) 1995 and DPCO 2013,” minister said.

Prices of such medicines, bulk drugs controlled by NPPA, Manufacturers are not allowed to increase the price, he added.
