Now Waiting at Chandod in Vadodara district for the bone immersion rituals

The deadly corona has caused an uproar as the number of deaths increased everyday. After the reports of queues in cemeteries for the burial of the dead, now people are waiting at Chandod Narmada river, a holy place of pilgrimage in Vadodara district, a rush of relatives of the deceased is being seen at Chandod Narmada river for the immersion rituals of the deceased.

The present wave of corona spread a fear in people as the cases and number of deaths increases everyday. The death toll is rising and reports are coming about queues inside cemeteries for last rites. In Hindu religion the immersion of bones of the deceased is very important and for this, Triveni Sangam in the river Narmada passing through Chandod in Vadodara district is considered as a sacred place. In normal days there is no rush for the rituals, but after Corona the death toll goes up and as a result the rush of relatives is there for the rituals.

The rituals are performed by the local Pandits and then the relatives use the boat to reach the triveni spot and immerse the bones. Due to rise in Corona mortality rate there is reports about waiting at the auspicious Chandod for rituals.

The local pundit says, in normal days, relatives who came for the rituals don’t have to wait. But due to the increase in Corona deaths they have to wait due to the rush at the place.

One of the person came from Vadodara for the ritual said, one of their relatives died during corona treatment and they visited the place for the rituals. However due to waiting with pundits for the puja, they also have to wait for their turn. He also added that in normal days they don’t witness any such situation.

He further said that there was no need to wait for bone worship in normal days. But rising mortality due to corona is causing a rush to the moon.

It is to be mentioned that due to the rush at Chandod, the markets are also crowded and the revenue of small and big traders is increasing. On the other hand, the sailors who took people from Chandod Malharghat to Triveni Sangam for bone immersion are also getting livelihood. Along with that, Pundits are also getting work for the puja.
