To avoid the possibility of spread in infection, the Vadodara city hospitals will have to follow various instructions from Monday. It is decided to postpone surgeries scheduled for voluntary selection until April 10 except in exceptional circumstances.

The number of patients admitted to hospitals for treatment of covid in Vadodara city has increased sharply during the last two weeks. As a result, patients admitted to hospitals for treatment other than covid need to be protected against the possibility of infection.

Accordingly, Dr. Vinod Rao, Officer on Special Duty and Education Secretary, has issued a notification in accordance with the Epidemic Control Act, 1897, the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the Covid 19 Epidemic Rules, 2020 of Gujarat. He ordered the hospitals to follow it strictly.

As per directions, the surgeries which are currently planned in all the hospitals from the voluntary selection of the patients will have to be postponed from Monday, April 22 to April 10, 2021, unless it is necessary to do so in exceptional circumstances.

Empaneled hospitals included in the list of approved hospitals for the treatment of covid have been asked to plan to increase the capacity of treatment by admitting patients.

Hospitals on the approved list are to ensure that patients who are home based are not unnecessarily admitted to the hospital. To motivate such patients to stay at home with the help of a nearby recognized private hospital or municipal primary health center for the treatment of covid.

Hospitals which have not yet been empaneled for the treatment of Covid, have to meet the conditions of registration as Covid Health Center or Dedicated Covid Hospital within the next 5 days. Empanement has been directed to be done by March 25, 2021.

Any person or institution violating any provision of this notification is liable to be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (45th of 1860) on the presumption of legal action.
