With over 3 and half inchs of rains since last 24 hours many areas in Vadodara are waterlogged as people find it difficult to move in the city roads. With continuous rains since morning public life was affected and many areas of the city are under water.  A years old dilapidated building also collapsed in Sultanpura. Due to heavy rains, fresh inflow of water was also received in Ajwa Sarovar and Vishwamitri river.

According to the local flood control room, 65 mm of rain fell in Vadodara between 6 and 10 in the morning, and 26 mm in the last twenty-four hours. The city witness waterlogging at many places with 3.5 inches of rain in the last 28 hours. Water on roads and in societies and slums making it difficult for people to get out of their homes.  The condition of the slum areas are worse as people force to move to safer places with their belongings.

The Alkapuri underpass also get flooded and affected the vehicular movement between Sayajiganj and Alkapuri. People heading towards Alkapuri were forced to cross Bhimnath Bridge, Pandya Bridge and Dandiabazar Bridge. Heavy showers left people stranded in the early hours of the morning. Many people’s vehicles got into trouble as they stuck in the water. Heavy rains have also caused severe erosion of city roads, making it difficult for people to drive.

The continuous downpour in the city since early morning had an impact on business and employment. The city markets were not open until late in the morning.  People who spent their days doing odd jobs, including auto rickshaws, got into trouble.

In the last 24 hours Karjan taluka  received 55 mm, Dabhoi-30 mm, Savli-15 mm, Padra-48 mm, Waghodia-15 mm, Desar-30 mm and Shinor taluka received 23 mm rainfall.   Due to heavy rains many areas in Karjan and Padra talukas are waterlogged and water entered inside the fields. Markets also could not open due to continuous rains.

Due to heavy rains in the catchment area, the level of Ajwa Sarovar reaches 212.35 feet and Vishwamitri river passing through Vadodara was recorded at 7.75 feet. While the level of Pratap Sarovar was recorded at 227.35 feet.
