Passengers get food packets and water bottles before heading to UP and Bihar

Under the coordination of Vadodara District Collector, 10776 workers reached their native places at UP and Bihar by 9 special labour trains. The Food Committee also helped them by giving 10776 food packets and 21552 water bottles.

The District Collector was entrusted by the State Government to coordination with the concerned States, Nodal Officers for the States and the Railways to send the stranded workers from their respective states to their home state and run special labour trains from last Sunday. The special trains are departed to destinations like Prayagraaj, Darbanga, Gorakhpur, Katihaar and other places to UP and Bihar.

Nodal Officer R.P. Joshi said that the district administration, police, health and railway system have been functioning continuously for the last 7 days and coordinating a total of 9 trains departed to various destinations from Vadodara. At the taluka level, Provincial officers, Mamlatdars and Revenue staff are doing this work along with other operations and each person is on duty for an average of twelve to fourteen hours.

He said, so far 3 trains out of total 8 trains depart to Lucknow, 3 to Barabanki and 1 each to Jaunpur and Gorakhpur for Uttar Pradesh. While one train head to Katihar carrying people from Bihar.

So far a total of 10776 passengers, 9561 to UP and 1215 to Bihar reached their destinations in 9 trains. The people stuck inside the city due to lockdown had a sigh of relief after board the special trains towards their destinations.

As per the instructions of District Collector, the Food Committee provided showed their humanitarian part and provide 10776 food packets and 21552 water bottles to these people before their journey.

Apart from this, discharging the responsibility assigned by the state government, the district collector has sent people taking shelter in neighboring districts of Chhota Udepur, Dahod and Narmada.
As per the instructions of the District Collector, the health was completed before their departure and the seating arrangements is done to maintain social distancing.

It was difficult to get permission to send tourists to Patna in Bihar but the Collector has coordinated and got approval for Katihar instead of Patna. Now the approval for Darbhanga is already received. Similarly as a secondary option the trains are now departed to Barabanki and Gorakhpur instead of Lucknow.
