IYC Workers Stage Protest at India AI Summit, Raise Slogans Against PM.
On Friday, workers of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a dramatic protest at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, opposing the India-US trade deal and raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Videos circulating on social media showed several activists removing their sweaters and jackets to reveal white T-shirts displaying photographs of Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump with the slogan “PM is compromised.”
Delhi Police detained four individuals and are investigating how the protesters managed to enter the high-security venue, where access requires prior registration and QR code verification. The IYC released a video on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that corporate interests were being prioritised over national interests and asserting that the protest was necessary to raise public awareness.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly criticised the protest, with National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla alleging that the demonstration was politically motivated, orchestrated at the behest of Rahul Gandhi, and aimed at tarnishing India’s global image.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, brings together representatives from over 100 countries and more than 300 exhibitors, focusing on human-centric, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive AI development under the theme “Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay,” highlighting India’s vision of promoting “AI for humanity.” The protest has raised questions about security at international events and the growing politicisation of high-profile summits in India.
