Official sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would meet with seven Indian COVID-19 vaccine makers today, following the country's milestone of administering 100 crore doses of the vaccine.
The meeting with PM Modi will include representatives from seven vaccine manufacturers: Serum Institute of India, Bharat Biotech, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Zydus Cadila, Biological E, Gennova Biopharma, and Panacea Biotech, according to news agency Press Trust of India.
As part of the tagline "vaccine for all," PM Modi is expected to emphasise measures to vaccinate eligible people in India as rapidly as possible, as well as assist other nations in inoculating their populations, an official source informed news agency Press Trust of India.
The meeting will also include Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar.
According to data updated at 7 a.m. by the Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses delivered in the country has surpassed 101.30 crore.
On October 21, India reached a critical milestone in its COVID-19 vaccination programme when the total number of vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 100 million, sparking celebrations across the country.
More than 75% of India's adult population has gotten at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination, with the first dosage being given to all eligible people in nine states and union territories.
At least one dose of the Covid vaccination has been given to all adults in nine states and union territories: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
According to officials from the health ministry, over 31% of the country's 93 crore people had received both doses.
