In the light of prevailing Covid -19 situation , this year International Day of Yoga was celebrated digitally by cadets and staff of NCC Directorate Gujarat with the theme “Yoga from home” under the aegis of Group Headquarters located at Ahmedabad, Baroda, Jamnagar, Rajkot and VV Nagar. As per directions of the Government, cadets were encouraged to practice Yoga at their homes.

A total of 39,000 cadets, staff and their families took part in the event and also live streamed the national event of International Day of Yoga -2020 on their Facebook page as part of AYUSH Ministry campaign ‘Be a true ambassador of Yoga’ .

As a prelude to the International Day of Yoga, cadets encouraged their family members, friends and neighbours for maximum participation in “Yoga from home” by making and uploading motivational videos of Yogasanas on social media platforms explaining their benefits for a healthy lifestyle. Cadets also enthusiastically participated in large numbers in the ‘My Life My Yoga‘ video blogging contest launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and organized by Ministry of AYUSH and ICCR.

Cadets also uploaded pictures of their favourite Yogasanas on digital media platforms, stating the reasons for their inclination towards Yoga as per the “Yog Karishu, Corona Ne Haravishu” campaign launched by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani on the theme of ‘Yoga at home and Yoga with family’ highlighting the importance of Yoga, its benefits and its role in increasing immunity.

NCC cadets successfully motivated a large number of family members and friends in taking part in the International Day of Yoga 2020 and making it a part of their daily routine.
