National Academy of Indian Railways celebrated its 70th Foundation Day on Sunday

National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) celebrated its 70th Foundation Day on Sunday. Director of IIT Gandhinagar, S K Jain graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Like previous years, this year also the academy conferred the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award’ on one of its Alumni. Mangu Singh, MD/DMRC was the receipent of the Distinguished Alumnus Award this year. He is an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), of the 1981 batch.

Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie( LBSNAA), Dr Sanjiv Chopra ,IAS, graced the occasion in the capacity of Guest of Honor. In the programme, the names of officer-trainees of various training programmes conducted by the Academy in the past year, who had shown outstanding performance and had won awards, were read out in order to Honor them. Director General, NAIR SPS Chauhan and Deputy DG NAIR, Dr Kamlesh Gosai were present as hosts.

Following all the protocols related to COVID-19 Pandemic, the academy kept the number of guests invited from outside the academy to minimum and the Officer Trainees of the Foundation Batch Currently undergoing training at NAIR, along with the Faculty of NAIR, formed the main audience at the occassion.

Speaking on the occasion, the distinguished alumnus awardee, Dr Mangoo Singh praised the training efforts of NAIR in the year 2020 , despite the COVID pandemic, which surpassed the benchmarks of the year 2019. He exhorted the trainee officers to be punctual at all times and advised them that they should develop the power and acumen to taking correct decisions in the interest of the nation and the work at hand.

He also advised that no posting is insignificant or ‘small’ and their are plenty of opportunities to do constructive work in all postings. He also underscored the importance of developing a reputation for integrity right in the beginning of the career. The address of Mangu singh was welcomed by the audience with a hearty round of applause.
