National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Lalbaug, Vadodara is hosting the 50th All India Railway Cue Sports Championship, for the first time, from 17th July to 27th July, 2017, with much sporting fervour. This is the Golden Jubilee championship and celebration of the event.

The 11-day marathon event would be inaugurated by Shri Rajiv Gupta, Director General of the academy on 17th July, 2017, Monday, at NAIR, Lalbaug, Vadodara at 9.45 Hrs in Sardar Patel Sabhagruh.

Around 80 eminent players of international and national repute, from different parts of India, are participating in this prestigious sports event. They will participate in Billiards, Snooker, Six-Red Snooker and 9 Ball Pool events supervised by a 13 observer-cum-referee team.

Star players like, Ashok Shandilya, World Billiards Champion (twice), Raftab Habib, Asian Games Snooker Gold medallist, Dilip Kumar, Peter Paul, Kamal Chawla, Sidharth Parekh, Waseem Ahmed, Faisal Khan, Malkeet Singh, besides many other international level players, are participating in the championship.

It is worth mentioning that NAIR, being the apex level training and management development centre for the Indian Railways, provides various types of training to the gazetted officers of the organisation. It also trains executives of other public and private entities of India, besides the senior managers of many foreign Railway organisations. The academy has rich sports infrastructure sports being the crucial co-curricular training activities.
