Prof. Ambika Bipin Patel HOD Department of Museology, Faculty of Fine Arts elected as board member of ICOM-ASPAC for 2019-2022

Prof. Ambika Bipin Patel, Head, Department of Museology, Faculty of Fine Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda has been elected as the board member of ICOM-ASPAC for 2019-2022. ICOM–ASPAC is the Regional Alliance of the International Council of Museums and it serve as the forum for exchange of information and co-operation between museums and museum professionals in the 25 participating countries in the Asia Pacific Region.

ICOM-ASPAC is a partner of other regional organizations in the conservation, continuation and communication of culture. As an ICOM – ASPAC board member, Prof. Ambika Patel will be contributing effectively for the growth of museum profession in the Asia-Pacific Region in assessing and the role of museums and museum profession in migration, decolonization, climate changes and other sustainability related issues in the region, the regional dynamics and diversities and associated global trends.

As an elected board member from India to ICOM-ASPAC, Prof. Ambika Patel will be contributing to museum profession in the Asia-Pacific Region in developing effective networking with National Committees of other countries and also with other Regional Alliances for meaningful professional growth and collaborations.

Prof. Patel will be play a major role in making ASPAC as a hub for inter-cultural dialogue, social inclusion and knowledge sharing for conservation, education, research and communication. Prof. Patel will be playing a major role in co-operation between Secretariate, ICOM Committees and affiliated Organizations to develop international projects and partnerships and to improve ASPAC’s standing on education and capacity building activities in the Asia-Pacific Region.
