Pharmaceutical society of The faculty of pharmacy, the Maharaja Sayajirao university of Baroda celebrated world pharmacist day on 25th September, 2017.

25th September is celebrated globally as the world pharmacist day since the year 2010. This is the day when the FIP(The international pharmaceutical federation) was founded. It is the global federation representing three million pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists worldwide.

At the 2009 Council meeting of the FIP Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, the Turkish Pharmacists Association suggested to annually celebrate World Pharmacists Day, to be organized on September 25. This proposal was unanimously accepted by the Council and since 2010, World Pharmacists Day is celebrated throughout the world to spread awareness about the role of pharmacist in the healthcare.

The theme for the year 2017 is “From research to health care: Your pharmacist is at your service”. To celebrate the pharmacist day, the pharmaceutical society organized various competitions such as essay writing, drawing and elocution on the theme related to healthcare.

The society also undertook a social activity “Sambhaav” in which the students of the faculty visited various schools and spread awareness regarding importance of health and hygiene and hazards of self medication and other medicine related issues. They used audio-visuals and posters for making the activity interesting.
