Master plan for Vadodara as part of advance planning for possible third wave

Increase in beds capacity in goverment and private hospitals along with Oxygen facility is part of the plan

Preparations are started in Vadodara in view of the possible third wave of coronavirus. The administration already have the plan in place for sufficient number of beds, oxygen supply and medical facilities.

Officer on Special Duty Dr. Vinod Rao said, as part of advance planning and preparation for a possible Third Wave, they have made a Master Plan for Vadodara. A total of 16,000 Beds including 6000 Government Free Beds and 10,000 Beds in Private Hospitals is part of this Master Plan.

To increase their Government Beds capacity from the present 2600 to 6000 they are proposing three Health Facilities two of which have been already approved in-principle in Budget, but with lesser allocation. These are Multispeciality Hospital of 1200 Beds at Anasuya Leprosy Ground Ajwa Road, Infectious Diseases Hospital with 1200 Beds at Karelibag and Emergency Medicine Department with 1000 Beds at Gotri Hospital.

Dr. Rao added that they had submitted the proposal to minister Bhupendrasingh Chudasama for discussion. Minister Yogesh Patel, Mayor, MP, all MLAs and other dignitaries unanimously endorsed the Master Plan and urged the Minister to help in approvals at the State Government level. After endorsement in the meeting a Proposal was formally signed and sent by him to Principal Secretary, Health Department, Government of Gujarat.

He said, the proposed lay-out and design of these Buildings are of Ground + 2 Levels using Pre-Engineered Construction Technology. These buildings can be made ready and fully functional in 3 to 4 months.
They have also included PSA Plants to make these Buildings largely self-sufficient for Oxygen supply.

Even if the proposal is partially approved, it will go a long way in strengthening their fight against COVID and create a permanent asset to the City even beyond the COVID times, added Dr. Rao.
