Married women worship Banyan tree (Vatvriksha) on the occasion of Vat Savitri Vrat in Vadodara. In view of Coronavirus scare the women wearing masks and maintain social distancing while performing the pooja.

Vat Purnima also called Vat Savitri is observed by married Hindu women in states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and some regions of Uttar Pradesh. On this Purnima (full moon) a married woman marks her love for her husband by tying a ceremonial thread around a banyan tree.

The celebration is based on the legend of Savitri and Satyavan as narrated in the epic Mahabharata.
