Mansukh Mandaviya meets ‘Bharat Ki Laxmi’ on Dhanteras

Minister of State for Shipping (IC) Mansukh Mandaviya meets two women mariners as a part of the movement of ‘Bharat ki Laxmi.’ The meeting is the call by the Prime Minister to meet and greet prominent women on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has motivated the citizens of the country to meet and greet prominent women of the country on the occasion of Diwali this year and urged them to share their stories with youth of the nation.

Enlightened by the call of PM, Minister of Shipping met two women mariners at Kolkata on the auspicious day of ‘Laxmi Pujan’ (Dhan Teras).

1. Nilofer Naha –

· Nilofer Naha is the first and only woman marine pilot of the country.

· There are only 5-6 women marine pilots across the globe, she is one among them.

· She is the only woman pilot in the world who is doing pilotage in the river; River pilotage is considered to be the most difficult.

2. Sarbari Das

· Sarbari Das is the first woman Commander – Survey Vessel of the country. She is working as a mariner since last 27 years.
