A major fire spread inside a scrap godown in Bhaniyara village on Halol Jarod road on Friday morning. The fire brigade use 1lakh 10litres water to control the fire in nearly 12 hours of operation. No casualties are reported in the fire and it was believed that chemical reaction inside the drums might lead to the fire in the godown.

The fire started from 12 midnight and fire brigade pumped 22 vehicles in the operation. After a 12 hours operation the teams managed to control the fire using 1lakh 10,000ltr water.

No casualties are reported in the fire but major loss was estimated by the fire brigade. There is about 500 tonnes of scrap including plastic, rubber, cotton waste, wooden, petro chemical drums and plywood inside the godown.

The fire inside the godown leads to irritation and burning sensation in the eyes of the villagers and they showed their protest in front of the godown. They also fear that the fire might spread to their houses nearby.

According to fire officer Om Jadeja 27 fire personnel from Chhani, Dandia Bazaar, Wadi wadi, GIDC and Wadi rushed to the spot and sprayed continuous flow of water to douse the fire. The scrap was coming from central Gujarat and after recycle sending to Bhopal, Mumbai and other cities.
