With chants of 'Vitthal, Vitthal, Vitthala...’ the

Vitthalnathji Procession was carried out from Temple at Mandvi on the occasion

of Devpodhi (Shayani) Ekadashi (agiyaras). The procession starting from old

city area moves towards different areas of the city before ending back at the

temple.

As a part of a 200 year old tradition the

procession or 'Vithhalnathji ni Palki' or 'Vitthalnathji Varghodo' as it is

known in the local terms, is taken out from Vitthalnathji Temple every year on

the occasion of Devpodhi (Shayani) Ekadashi (agiyaras). Devotees in big numbers

attend the procession to seek blessings from lord Vitthalanath ji on the

auspicious day of Ekadashi.

Before the start the Royal Gaekwad Family members

worship the Lord and offered prayers at the historical Vitthalanath temple

situated in Mandvi area of the city. With chants of 'Vitthal, Vitthal,

Vitthala...’ the Procession started with scent and flowers thrown at palanquin

and proceed ahead through Old City area, Ghadiyali Pol, Nyay Mandir, Roapura,

Kothi, SSG Hospital, Gahineshwar Mahadev Temple, Kirti Mandir, Bahucharaji

road, Raopura, Chimnabai Tower, Gandhi Nagar Gruh and reached back at the

temple.

As per tradition the procession stop at the

Gahineshwar Mahadev where prayers and rituals is going to be performed

symbolises a visit by Vitthalnathji to Lord Shiva.
