A Unique
Initiative by the Institute to encourage Online Education
The world of
Education has been tied up in knots, globally, due to the Pandemic Covid-19, as
a result, the majority of the educational institutions have been trying to get
back on the track. In India almost all the schools and colleges have advised
their students for self-study, instead of functioning as usual. Though the
government has appealed all the school and college teachers to reach the
students through virtual platforms, it is a stumbling block for the salient
majority due to their Customary Modus Operandi of Teaching-learning and Evaluation
Process.
Contrary to
this general scenario, at CHARUSAT, this process is keeping intact. Indukaka
Ipcowala Institute of Management (I2IM), CHARUSAT, has been continuously
conducting all the educational activities through online mediums like Google Classroom,
Virtual Classroom, YouTube Video Sessions, online courses, emails, website and
other E-materials, under a unique initiative called “Lock-down? or Log-in at
CHARUSAT”.
The teaching
faculty members of the institute have continued their academic and research
work by studying various online courses, materials, lesson planning and online
learning platforms. In total 40 different online courses of around 30-40 hours
offered by the World Class Universities including Harvard University,
University of Illinois, University of Amsterdam, University of Edinburg,
University of Pennsylvania, University of Toronto, SWYAM Portal by Govt. of
India, and internationally reputed organizations like British Council are being
pursued by the faculty members of the I2IM.
Furthermore,
Dr. M C Patel, Secretary of Kelavani Mandal & former Provost of CHARUSAT,
has suggested to all the faculty members of the university to study the best
practices of the World Class Universities. As per the suggestion, the faculty
members of I2IM have scrupulously studied best practices of around 12 World
Class Universities and submitted the action plans to implement the same at
CHARUSAT. These universities include Harvard, Cambridge, Stanford, University
of Lancaster, IIMs and many more.
In the same
reference, Dr. Govind Dave, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies &
Principal, I2IM had stated that in the period of lockdown along with the
students all the faculty members also should put efforts to enhance their
content knowledge and sharpen their digital skills through online sources that
can ameliorate virtual Teaching-Learning and Evaluation Process and get it more
impactful. Besides, he also recommended to visit online platforms such as
Coursera, Alison, FutureLearn, NPTL as well as British Council and join
appropriate long-term or short-term free courses, to study at home.
Surendrabhai
Patel, President, Dr. Pankaj Joshi, Provost, Dr. Devang Joshi, Registrar of
CHARUSAT have inspired to Charusat family members to turn the adversity of
COVID-19 into opportunity through continuous online teaching-learning and
evaluation process.
