Two people were injured in the early hours of Wednesday after a train compartment derailed in Maharashtra 's Gondia region.
The passenger train was on its way from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh to Rajasthan's Jodhpur when it collided with a goods train. Re-railment was completed at 4.30 am and the train has since reached its destination.
According to an official, four wheels of the express train had gotten off the tracks after the clash.
The incident occurred around 1.20 am between Gudhma and Gondia railway stations, with officials stating that prima facie the driver of Bhagat Ki Kothi SF Express appeared to have been unable to control the train.
"We've an automatic block signaling system where trains move one after the other. The driver waited for two minutes seeing the red signal and then moved cautiously, as per night protocol. But goods train was still standing. He applied emergency brakes...only two got minor injuries. Track was not damaged," explained Manninder Uppal, the Nagpur Division DRM of South East Central Railway .
