If reports are to go by, the Nepalese government recently proclaimed Pokhara, nestled in the stunning Gandaki province, as the premier tourism capital of the Himalayan nation. 

This formal announcement took place amid a special gathering at Barahi Ghat, which graces the tranquil shores of the breathtaking Phewa Lake.

Despite Pokhara's long standing reputation as a prominent tourism destination, it recently achieved formal recognition as the tourism capital following the fulfilment of essential criteria. 

This designation marks a significant milestone in Pokhara's journey, solidifying its position as a leading hub for tourism activities.

According to Pokhara Mayor Dhanaraj Acharya, the declaration holds profound implications for Pokhara's global recognition. 

This recognition not only acknowledges Pokhara's existing appeal but also sets the stage for further development and promotion of its unique offerings to travellers worldwide.

Furthermore, it has been announced that effective from Sunday, businesses such as discos, nightclubs, and live music venues in Pokhara will have the liberty to operate throughout the night, providing an extended opportunity for entertainment and leisure.

Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey of Gandaki Province outlined that various establishments including bars, restaurants, spas, grocery stores, and snack shops situated in key areas like Lakeside, Prithvi Chowk, Mahendrapul, and Chipledhunga within Pokhara will be permitted to continue their operations until 1 a.m.

This allowance comes with the condition that they adhere to prescribed standards.

Pokhara stands as a vibrant tourist hub in Nepal, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, cultural richness, and diverse array of recreational activities.

Nestled amidst the majestic Annapurna mountain range and overlooking the serene Phewa Lake, Pokhara offers stunning vistas that captivate visitors from around the globe.
