Mpox outbreak: Indian airports, borders on high alert

As per the latest development, the Centre has issued a high alert across airports, ports, and borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan to monitor incoming international passengers for signs of monkeypox (Mpox), amid growing concerns over the global spread of the virus.

This heightened surveillance comes as Mpox cases continue to rise worldwide, prompting India to up its preparedness against the disease.

According to sources, three key hospitals in Delhi—Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, and Lady Hardinge Medical College—have been designated as the primary facilities for isolating, managing, and treating Mpox patients.

These hospitals will serve as the nodal centers for handling cases in the capital, ensuring that any detected cases are swiftly managed to prevent further transmission.
