Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that wearing of seat belt will now be mandatory for all passengers travelling in the car. Mr Gadkari said this during a function in New Delhi.
He said, in next three days, the government will issue order in this regard. Mr Gadkari said that if any passenger travelling in the vehicle does not wear seat belt sitting on the front or rear seat in a car, then the person will be penalized.
The government's move comes in the wake of recent death of former Tata Sons chairperson Cyrus Mistry in a tragic car accident on Sunday.
