The meeting, a follow-up to the Tourism Conclave held on Jan 13, aimed to ensure a coordinated approach to the concerns raised by the tourism industry and travel influencers online.

The meeting saw senior officials from the departments of panchayat, transport, tourism, ports, Goa police, industries, civil aviation, home, and excise, discuss ways to ensure seamless coordination between all departments.

Representatives from the captain of ports, Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, Mormugao Ports Authority, and the two international airports were also present.

One outcome of the meeting is a police verification drive along the beaches where staff employed by shacks, water sports operators, and adventure sports will be vetted.

A crackdown on violations such as excess deck beds, loud music, and keeping shacks open beyond the permissible 11pm cut-off will also happen, said an official.

Candavelou has asked the excise department to formulate a policy for retail outlets and all liquor stores that will incentivise the return of glass bottles. A policy to collect a deposit from retail customers has been proposed.

The police have also been asked to strictly enforce the Public Nuisance Act. A push for a single-window document for weddings and events, wherein all documents would be submitted and processed by the department, was also proposed.
