New Update

Parle Products, one of India's largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) firms, has raised the cost of some of its most popular products, including Parle G, Hide & Seek, and KrackJack.

Biscuit costs have reportedly been raised by 5 to 10%, according to a company official. The primary cause for the price increase is a significant increase in the price of raw materials such as sugar, wheat, and edible oil.

"We have taken a 5-10 per cent price hike," Mayank Shah, senior category head of Parle Products, told PTI. The increase in biscuit pricing, on the other hand, will only affect packs costing more than Rs 20.

To maintain the attractive pricing points, the company has increased the costs of cookies and other products beyond Rs 20 and lowered the grammage of products below it, according to Mayank shah.

This is the first price increase implemented by Parle in the current fiscal year. The most recent price rise occurred in the January-March 2021 quarter.

"This is after considering the inflationary pressure on the input cost that we are facing. Most of the companies are facing it," he said.

Prices of input materials such as edible oil have increased by 50-60% compared to last year, putting the company under inflationary pressure, he said.

"If we look at wheat and sugar, both are up by 8-10 per cent compared to last year," Shah added.
