Gujarat: Chemists raises concerns amid E-Pharmacy expansion in the state
New Update

The Federation of Gujarat State Chemists and Druggists Association (FGSCDA), representing 35,000 chemists statewide, voiced concerns over quick commerce platforms and online pharmacies' expansion into pharmaceutical distribution.

FGSCDA, backed by the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), cited potential health risks and regulatory violations in a letter to India's Drug Controller General (DCGI).

FGSCDA leaders highlighted that fast-paced online drug deliveries could undermine quality and safety standards, posing risks of improper storage and handling.

They also warned of increased anti-microbial resistance (AMR) due to unregulated distribution. Legal uncertainties surrounding an online pharmacy's operations were noted as an additional risk factor.

FGSCDA called for a govt investigation, emphasising that traditional pharmacies uphold strict compliance to safeguard public health.
