Jamnagar's well-known cardiologist, Dr Gaurav Gandhi, died of a heart attack on Tuesday morning. His death has sent shockwaves across the city as he was one of the best and youngest cardiologists there.
Police said Gandhi died in his sleep after having a normal day. He wrapped up his hospital schedule after seeing some patients on Monday night like every day. He then returned to his residence on Palace Road.
Gandhi had normal food for dinner and went to sleep after a while. His family said they noticed no discomfort in his behavior, neither did he mention any problem that night. His health was also as right as rain, they added.
However, he did not wake up the next day. Around 6 am, a little later than his usual waking-up time, his family members tried to get him out of bed, but he did not respond to their calls.
The family immediately rushed him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Doctors said the cause of his death was a heart attack. Dr Gaurav Gandhi was 41-years-old.
Dr Gandhi has successfully performed more than 16,000 heart surgeries in his medical career.
