Yet another suspected outbreak of COVID, like influenza H3N2, has raised concerns. Over the past few weeks, the country has witnessed a rise in ICU admissions due to influenza.

A total of 119 H3N2 cases and 324 H1N1 cases were reported in Maharashtra between January 1 and March 15, whereas one death has been reported due to H3N2.

Meanwhile, the first case of H3N2 influenza has also been detected in Madhya Pradesh, bringing the infection count to five states now.

According to officials, people are encouraged to wear masks in crowded places.

In view of rising influenza cases, schools in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will remain closed for 11 days from March 16 to March 26 for classes one through eight.
