Gujarat's Aravalli district has reported two deaths due to 'Chandipura' virus, a health officer said on Monday.
Chief district health officer MA Siddiqui told reporters that the district had reported three cases of the virus of which two succumbed due to the infection while the other one is being treated at a hospital.
The virus is characterized by symptoms such as high fever and diarrhea.
In response to the outbreak, authorities have formed 50 teams to carry out extensive dusting operations, said the health officer.
He urged farmers to utilize insecticides and pesticides to control the mosquito population in the area.
Additionally, parents are advised to dress their children in full-sleeved clothing as a preventive measure against mosquito bites.
