Leaked Washrooms inside HM girls hostel in MSU

Girls students residing in Hansa Mehta girls hostel in Maharaja Sayajirao University are facing the problem of blocked wash rooms and rats inside their rooms. With over 400 girls residing in the hostel there is only one washroom to use between them. Moreover when the VP raised the issue with the authorities she alleged that the university security misbehaved with her.

The university is opened over a week ago after the Diwali vacations and the students are now preparing for their exams which already starts. However the girl students of H.M. girls hostel has to face double trouble of blocked toilets and filth inside their hostel. Moreover the wifi is also not working and during this exam time the girls are facing lots of trouble. On Monday they called the VP Priyanka Patel and raised their voice.

“Couple of days earlier I visit the hostel after some of the girls complaint and then I talked to the supervisor about it and to clean the washrooms and fix the leakages. However the problem was not fixed and the girls called me on Monday and I am surprised to see that all the washrooms are locked and only one is functional between 400 to 450 girls of the hostel. There was stinking smell of drainage all over and the girls are facing the problems in this exam time,” said Priyanka Patel VP MSU Students Union.

After the problem the MSU vigilance team reached the spot and there was slight altercation between them and the students. Priyanka Patel alleged that the Vigilance head Mr. Kanani misbehaved with her abused and pushed her. “After the problem we called the media to show the problems of the girls but the Vigilance team didn’t allowed them and misbehaved with us. Mr. Kanani misbehaved with me, abused and pushed me there. This is not acceptable and we are going to give a application to the VC in this regard and demand to rusticate him,” said Patel.

However about the problem of washrooms and wifi she said that she gives the ultimatum of two days to the contractor to fix the leakages and all the problems and he assured and also called new staff there. And also she demand to fix the problem of wifi facility inside the hostel. Priyanka said she is sure that the problem will solve in two days and if not they will agitate in front of the VC after that.
