Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated by Konark Corps on 26 July 2020 at Jodhpur Military Station to commemorate the valour of the Indian Army during Kargil War. On the occasion, Lieutenant General Anil Puri, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding Konark Corps, laid a wreath at Konark War Memorial to pay obeisance to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to make this victory possible.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is named after the success of ‘Operation Vijay’, which commemorates the victory achieved over Pakistani intruders in the Kargil War of 1999. The operation was a saga of bravery and valour that lasted 80 days and ended with eviction of the intruders. Fighting at daunting altitudes and seemingly unassailable peaks ranging from 13000 to 18000 feet, what our Indian troops achieved was nothing short of a miracle.
The entire nation is proud of this momentous victory of the Indian Armed Forces and Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July each year to commemorate it.
