Various theme based colourful kites decorate the Vadodara skies as the International Kite festival starts with great enthusiasm on Friday. Kite flier from various countries take part in the event organised every year to mark the arrival of summer season.

The kite festival held every year during Uttarayan with great fervour in Gujarat. Uttarayan literally means a sojourn to the North, denoting the movement of Sun in the direction of Northern Hemisphere. The season is considered best for kite flying with bright sunny days and brisk breeze. With International Kite fliers the festival is one of the grand event organised every year.

Russian couple Maria Tokareva and Dima Bodrov representing SpbKites on their maiden visit to India is quite enthusiastic about the festival and looking forward to enjoy. "We are coming to India for the first time and take part in the kite festival. We are here in Gujarat for the last 10 days and enjoyed the stay and food here. The festival is one such event invite Kite fliers from different countries at one platform," said Maria.

Another International Kite flier Andrew from Scotland is also visiting Gujarat for the first time and take part in the kite festival. "Iam looking forward for a great time here flying kites with others. The wind is not that strong but I hope it will increase and will able to fly my kite which is quite heavy," said Andrew.

Apart from International Kite fliers from various states like Pounducherry, Uttarakhand, Tamilnadu, UP, Maharashtra also take part in the festival to compete with the seasoned ones. "We came here for the first time and the enthusiasm is electric here. We are looking forward to fly our kites with the others and enjoy the stay here," said Trisha coming from Dehradun.
