International Kite fliers show their skills with beautiful innovative kites.

Uttrayan the festival of kites is round the corner but Vadodara city already indulge in the celebration mood. The occasion is International Kite Festival organised every year in the city. Various theme based colourful kites decorate the skies as the festival starts with great enthusiasm on Monday. Kite fliers from various countries take part in the event organised every year to mark the arrival of summer season.

The kite festival held every year during Uttarayan with great fervour in Gujarat. Uttarayan literally means a sojourn to the North, denoting the movement of Sun in the direction of Northern Hemisphere. The season is considered best for kite flying with bright sunny days and brisk breeze. With International Kite fliers the festival is one of the grand event organised every year.

This year the event was shifted to the Navlakhi extension ground near the Central jail and inaugurated by the Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi. The enthusiasm of the kite fliers are unmatched as they cover the sky with colourful kites and get into competitive mood. International kite fliers from around 15 countries like Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Columbia and others take part in the festival.

Kite enthusiasts also have the golden opportunity to learn the kite flying art of various countries and also interact with them to know their culture and significance of the festival. Apart from the international participants kite fliers from all across India also visit Vadodara and compete with others.
