INS VALSURA celebrates WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Conducted various programmes and activities

As part of ‘World Environment Day’, various activities were conducted at INS Valsura, Jamnagar where all personnel and their families participated whole-heartedly.

Starting with a Coastal Cleanliness drive was conducted on 01 Jun 19 with emphasis on removal of non biodegradable waste from the water bodies around the establishment. A mass Shramdaan was conducted on 02 Jun 19 witnessed enthusiastic participation from Officers, Sailors, Defence Civilians, DSC personnel and their families.

Topical lectures along with quiz competition were organised in consonance with the theme ‘Air Pollution’ declared by the United Nation for this year. This created awareness amongst the young trainees and students on environmental issues.

On 05 Jun 19, over 500 saplings were planted by the ship’s company and families at various locations of the unit. The effort was led by Commodore C Raghuram, VSM, Commanding Officer, INS Valsura.
